Gateway to the Rockies Fund

In 2009, as part of its strategic plan, the Museum made the commitment to share through a long-term exhibition the exciting stories of the men and women who explore, inquire and adventure in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. On May 12, 2012, the Museum will proudly open our exciting new permanent exhibition Gateway to the Rockies, in keeping with this promise.

Well on its way to completion, Gateway to the Rockies communicates the history of the Canadian Rockies using more than 500 artifacts, artworks, archival photographs and documents. New audio-visual productions and recordings, historic film footage and images are also included. This fun, interactive exhibition (complete with a full-size helicopter, a Brewster touring car, a railway snowshed, and much more) brings to life the stories of the men and women who shaped the culture of these mountains. You are all invited to be part of the story by joining us at the grand opening reception for Gateway to the Rockies that will feature local musicians and history makers.

Over the past three years we have raised 90 percent of the total cost of the project through grants and donations. We are still seeking that final 10 percent to ensure that this permanent exhibition will be the best it can be. Beyond the initial design and installation of the exhibit, ongoing upgrades and enhanced educational features are part our long-term plan.

Donations of any amount are welcome. Every dollar of support for the Gateway to the Rockies Fund will enable the Museum to keep this major exhibit up-to-date and fresh. Each and every donation will be acknowledged and will receive an official tax receipt. If you are interested in sponsoring this inspiring new exhibition please contact Michale Lang, Executive Director, at mlang@whyte.org or at 403-762-2291 ext. 306. Supporters will enjoy a range of benefits.
