We invite groups to explore Banff’s colourful past with a guided tour through our galleries, heritage homes, or the Banff town site. Please call to discuss your group’s interests, needs, and languages requirements.

Heritage Homes Tour

Step into the 1931 home of visual artists Peter and Catharine Whyte and feel its worldly yet simple charm. Marvel at the eclectic 1907 home of Philip and Pearl Moore. These homes tell a story of lifestyles in the mountain wilderness and reflect the cultural roots of the Banff community. Experience them both on this guided tour.   • Price: $78.50 per group – maximum 8 people per group 
  • Duration: Approximately 45 minutes


Historic Banff Walk

Take a walk back in time and get to know the colourful individuals who built the town of Banff. This guided tour meanders through history to take you to the riverside site where Tom Wilson established one of the first outfitting operations in the area, St. Georges-in-the-Pines Anglican Church with its unique stained glass windows, and the Luxton Home and Garden. These and many other intriguing stops reveal the fascinating history of this town.

  • Duration: Approximately 90 minutes


Lives & Legacy Tour

Experience Banff's history through the lives and legacy of artists and Museum founders Peter and Catharine Whyte. Join us as we retrace their steps from childhood and art school, to community builders and respected artists.

  • Availability: Group bookings are available by appointment year round.
  • Price: $78.50 per group – maximum 25 people per group
  • Duration: Approximately 40 minutes


Luxton Home and Garden Tour

Built around 1905, this heritage resource was home to Norman and Georgina Luxton and their daughter Eleanor. The home reflects the family's ties with the Stoney First Nations, their contribution to Banff's business and cultural activities and their passion for collecting. Women of the Rockies

Join us in celebrating women’s history in the Canadian Rockies. This slide show presentation will introduce you to historical and current figures that have shaped our mountain culture landscape. Discover the women whose lives are a part of a legacy of backcountry travel, ranching, climbing, scientific research, writing, drama and art. Funding for this project was provided by the Banff Heritage Tourism Corporation. In partnership with the Living Room.

  • Duration: 90 minutes

Armchair History

Meander through the historic streets of Banff without leaving the comfort of your armchair. This slide-illustrated presentation weaves through history to paint a colourful portrait of this unique town and world heritage site. Through stories and images you’ll meet the individuals who played a significant part in Banff’s heritage.
