Use Ice Cores and Other Evidence to Investigate the Past and Compare this with the Present

Arctic glaciers are natural data banks. Every year, for thousands of years a layer of snow has turned-to-ice. These ice layers are preserved in the cold arctic glaciers and can be sampled using coring drills. These scientists study the air, dust, pollen and chemicals trapped in ice cores. In this way we learn about historical changes in pollutants and learn when and how much climate has changed.
