What is Happening at Timberline?

As climate warms, won't there be more trees higher on the mountain sides?
Dr. Trudy Kavanagh has found that not all areas are greening-up at the same rate. Some places are too rocky to support trees while other locations have lots of seedlings that are just too small to be seen from a distance.

Where is timberline changing the fastest?
From a distance the recent changes taking place at timberline are hard to see. South-facing slopes receive more direct solar radiation so it is on these warmer slopes that we should expect to see the biggest changes in timberline.

Trees at timberline are very sensitive to climate Is the forest different on the north and south facing slopes
